Ana Beatriz Barros was born on May 29, 1982, in Itabira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She is the youngest daughter of Reinato Barros, a mechanical engineer, and Sônia Barros, a homemaker. Her family later relocated to Rio de Janeiro, where she spent her formative years. Ana is of German, Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish descent. She has two sisters: Patricia, who also pursued a modeling career, and Maria Luísa, a dermatologist. 

Discovery and Modeling Career

At the age of 13, while vacationing in Rio de Janeiro with her sister Patricia, Ana was discovered by a scout from Elite Model Management. Encouraged by the agency, she entered the Elite Model Look competition in 1996, winning the Brazilian edition and securing second place in the international finals. This exposure led to her first major campaign with Guess?, alongside fellow Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio. ​

Ana's modeling career flourished as she worked with renowned brands such as Victoria's Secret, Chanel, Dior, Armani Jeans, L'Oréal, Diesel, and Jennifer Lopez's JLO fashion line. Ana married Greek-Egyptian businessman Karim El Chiaty on July 8, 2016, in a ceremony held on the Greek island of Mykonos. The wedding was attended by several of her fellow models, including Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima. The couple has two sons: Karim Hamed, born in December 2017, and Alexander Omar, born in February 2020. ​
